(Note:
The word “slave” in the following article applies to
my own journey and understanding of my life. The
experiences i describe can be felt by any “sub”,
“boy” or “boi”, “Mistress”, “Dom” or
“Daddy”.)
Most
people who come to consensual slavery or boyhood have a
deep, inner need to serve. They will crawl across broken
glass to fill this craving, and often make poor choices
in selecting an Owner. To make matters worse, men are
often led to service by their hard dicks, and we all
know that while men may have two heads, they only have a
large enough blood supply for one at a time.
When
a person does find a Master, there is often a period of
intense service and (possibly) sexual activity, blotting
out all other considerations. This blissful
‘honeymoon’ period can last for weeks, months, and
even (with luck) years.
But
the time may come when the thrill of slavery wears thin
and life becomes routine. Many needs may begin to
conflict with service, such as working a job, and a
slave may find themselves becoming un-centered and of
less use to the Owner. A good protocol will definitely
help keep the magic of slavery going, but i believe that
more is needed.
Personally,
i feel myself quite lucky in that a very spiritual man
owns me. Master Steve insists that all His slaves find
some spiritual practice to incorporate into their daily
lives and actively assists us in doing so. The benefits
are great for all: a happy, centered and spiritual slave
is a much better slave overall and more pleasing to
their Master.
But
let me take a moment to define what i mean by
spirituality. i feel that this is a state of being where
the person has knowledge of their inner self, has a high
sense of self-esteem and can see or feel the presence of
the Divine in life. Master Steve likes to say that
Religion is man’s way of reaching the Divine while
Spirituality is the Divine’s way of getting man to
reach the Divine! One can be religious and not
spiritual, or spiritual and not religious. And one can
be both spiritual and religious! Religion, be it
Neo-Pagan, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, etc. can be
a strong force in a person’s spiritual life, and bring
great joy (as Druidry does to me), but it is not
absolutely necessary.
So
how does one ‘become’ spiritual? i know of slaves
who feel that they don’t have a spiritual bone in
their bodies. Perhaps they simply haven’t found that
‘bone’ yet. One can only have a spiritual life when
the time is right and one is ready for it. But for those
of us who suspect that there may be more to life than
the physical, certain techniques can often help.
One
tried and true way is through meditation. There are lots
of books and on-line resources on the subject for the
beginner. The important thing is to have a regular
practice. Meditation broadens one’s understanding of
the spirit and paves the way for transformation. While a
person can have epiphanies from SM or just due to events
in life, they tend to fade away and not stick without a
strong, meditative practice as a spiritual foundation.
Another
method, building upon the meditative foundation, is to
perform rituals. With practice, these train the mind and
soul to open to the universe at will, giving one a
strong sense of belonging. i perform two types of ritual
myself. The more common type is what i call my vanilla
rituals, such as when I perform my Druid / pagan rituals
(example: with the smoke of burning sage every morning).
The other type is the ecstatic type of ritual that I
perform with Master. This can be a needle scene of 99
needles (W/we were doing this when I experienced Divine
presences and an extraordinary connection to the whole
universe), a Ball Dance (where the participants suspend
bells, balls or weights from temporary piercings and
dance to drums) or even the Lakota Sioux Sun Dance. With
these ecstatic rituals, the piercings cause the body to
produce a great quantity of endorphins, and these little
chemicals can make one quite high. But they can also
lead to major shifts in consciousness, especially when
there is a good meditative foundation to stand upon.
Now
i’m not suggesting that everyone run out and get
pierced! This is an extreme form of ecstatic practice.
But i do recommend that everyone begin a spiritual
practice to help them find their centered place in the
universe. It is my believe that we are all spiritual
beings who are having a great, physical experience, and
i find that when i integrate the two of them together, i
feel truly centered and happy.
